Welcome to the homepage of the Trans*Kids Project

The Trans*Kids Project is a longitudinal study of 50 families with transgender and gender-diverse children. Our research team is based at Miami University of Ohio in the Department of Family Science and Social Work. We are tracking these families’ well-being over time to identify factors in their lives that foster – and propose challenges to – their emotional, psychological, and overall well-being. The children were between the ages of six and 12 years old at Time 1 (data collected in 2011-2012), and we have collected three rounds of data so far.

A smaller, concurrent study focuses on custody- and visitation-related challenges experienced by parents and other family members of transgender and gender-diverse children.
